Join us Sunday, February 23, 2025, for the 1st Shatter the Stigma 5K Run/Walk as we recognize the promising potential of psychedelics for mental health treatment and beyond. Especially for Veterans & First Responders struggling with hard to treat mental health. According to recent RAND report 8 million Americans took psychedelics in the past year. This is 2.5 million more users than 2019 estimates of 5.5 million users. As new research comes out and public perception shifts, more and more people will use psychedelics. We will run/walk to raise awareness and reduce harm and stigma reduction through education and resources in this quickly growing area of treatment.
On the morning of Sunday, February 23rd runners and walkers of all abilities, advocates, and affected individuals will come together on the beautiful grass area at Florida International University, Graham Center Lawns. Money raised will support local charity Heal Our Heroes Foundation, a non-profit focused on bringing affordable alternative treatments to veterans and first-responders. In addition, two other well respected charities - Zendo Project and Fireside Project - that focus on helping the general public, including our Veterans & First reponders, to ensure that they have the tools to navigate psychedelics so we can live, grow, and be healthy together.
This will be our first event but we hope to serve the people that need it most and create an environment in which continued research can be done. This substance (psychedelics) are often stigmatized, understood as negative, we hope to to bring to light the potential positives and facilitate responsible discussion. Funds raised through 5K registrations and fundraising efforts of teams and individuals will support operations of Healing Our Heroes, Zendo Project & Fireside Project; including care services at events around the country, helping anyone in need of emotional support.
Further your impact by buying a Donation Ticket! You can also invite people to join you at the 5K or donate to our fundraising page. All donations are tax deductible (as allowable by law) and go directly to support operations at these three organizations. Click/Tap on the “Sign Up” Button to get started.
